KONE Australia today announced the launch of the High-Rise MiniSpace™ DX, an innovative elevator solution designed to optimise space and enhance people flow irrespective of the building height. This next-generation technology will debut in BLVD, OSK’s third tower in the Melbourne Square precinct. Currently under construction by Multiplex, this will make Australia the first market worldwide to implement KONE’s advanced vertical transportation system.

The KONE High-Rise MiniSpace™ DX is engineered to provide an extra floor of usable space, maximising efficiency for building owners and enhancing tenant appeal. With the ability to increase capacity and speed capabilities within the shaft, whilst also significantly reducing pit depths, headroom and motor room heights, this solution delivers superior lift performance, and up-time. This is particularly crucial in today's competitive market where developers face challenges in attracting tenants in a post-COVID market characterised by increased supply and decreased demand.

Robert Haig, Head of Major Projects, KONE Australia and New Zealand, comments: “The launch of the KONE MiniSpace DX at Melbourne Square represents a significant advancement in vertical transportation. This innovation not only improves energy efficiency but also enhances the overall user experience by optimising people flow. As builders seek ways to reduce building costs and developers seek to attract environmentally conscious tenants, this new Next Generation solution stands as a key component in modern building strategies.”

Key features of the KONE Next Generation High-Rise MiniSpace™ DX:

  • Space efficiency: Designed to provide an additional floor of usable space, making buildings more attractive to tenants.
  • Enhanced performance: Increased speed and capacity improve people movement within buildings, accommodating higher demand, whilst also increasing uptime when compared to traditional steel.
  • Energy efficiency: Rated ISO 25745 A class and VDI 4707 A class, results in lower energy consumption and reduced operational costs, enhancing the overall value of the building.
  • Sustainable design: Incorporates KONE UltraRope® technology, optimising vertical shaft design to minimise carbon emissions, reducing operational carbon, and improving green building ratings.

The KONE High-Rise MiniSpace™ DX not only increases tenant satisfaction through improved availability but also lowers operational costs. Along with KONE’s predictive maintenance technology, potential issues can be identified proactively, further enhancing elevator uptime and user experience.

A total of five Next Generation KONE MiniSpace™ DX elevators and one KONE N MonoSpace™ elevator, along with three KONE JumpLift 1000’s will be featured throughout the Melbourne Square project, which is due for completion in 2028. These innovations streamline the construction process, enabling early access to lifts during the construction process, which accelerates project timelines and enhances safety.

KONE’s commitment to sustainability is evident throughout the lifecycle of its solutions—from smart design and energy-efficient operations to optimised maintenance processes. The KONE Next Generation High-Rise MiniSpace™ DX range contributes to a lower carbon footprint while increasing building value and efficiency.
